I did it!

I have successfully completed the challenge of cycling from my home town (Amsterdam, NL) all the way to China, a trip of almost 8.000 kilometres. Whilst pedaling the world I tried raising money for research that contributes to improving treatment of type 1 diabetes.

Having type 1 diabetes myself, I know the struggles and challenges I and millions of others encounter in our day-to-day lives. I want to show the world that you are able to turn setbacks into come-backs. Whatever comes your way, you can still overcome things that you thought weren’t even possible to begin with. You can read more about my story here.

Take a look around to see my route, photos and videos.

At the end of the trip we managed to raise over €30.000,- which I handed over to the Diabetes Fonds on November 14 2021, on World Diabetes Day.

I am very happy that the donations will go towards young researchers that will focus on new and revolutionary breakthroughs in the field of research on type 1 diabetes. With their perspectives on modernizing healthcare and their eagerness to gather new knowledge on the topic I am sure that we will keep moving in the right direction when it comes to a potential solution.
